New site claims to generate short domain names that can be pronounced and are available for registration.
A new site says it can help entrepreneurs find short, pronounceable, and unregistered .com domain names that they can brand for their business.
Pronouncey.com, which just launched (and itself was recently hand registered) it pretty simple. You just select the number of characters, hit generate, and then it randomly creates a domain name that it claims is pronounceable.
Does it work? I’ll let you be the judge.
Here are the first three randomly produced domain names it gave me this morning at varying lengths:
5 Characters:
Dwors.com
Ctful.com
Ypari.com
6 Characters:
zouses.com
ychers.com
bosess.com
7 Characters:
eepting.com
nuresse.com
chhings.com

Well, they are pronounceable, but obviously they would not all be excellent names, or else someone would have bought them already. I actually spent some time on the 5 chars and while most I would not buy, as a domaine, I did find some decent ones. For example:
zaedi.com
oente.om
xulat.com
zeyst.com
Maybe not buys for a domainer (but maybe so), but I could see these name as ones that a new web site or cool new company might want. It’s damn hard to find a short name that isn’t going to cost you many hundreds of dollars from a domain owner. These are names that are no more odd than most weird names of sites I’m seeing these days.

@ Tim – You might be able to pronounce those, but I’d probably pronounce them differently. Would they pass the radio test? If you told someone one, would they be able to spell it?

I hit the button about 50 times and then it told me I exceeded my daily limit. Daily limit of what? Daily limit of crap!! LOL

Andrew: Let’s take a look at some recent sales of 5-char com names. Of course, there are many are excellent name sales, perfectly pronounceable and spellable. But take a look at the following names and sales prices I just grabbed from a search at estibot.com. There are more like these, that might also be dissed for the reasons you stated.

Thanks for sharing. But honestly I don’t like it. Many of them won’t pass radio test. Doesn’t look cool though.

At least one domain I generated makes sense: nywar.com
Now someone is actually going to register it for a stupid event.
The site is a joke.
Andrew Allemann says
Well…nywar.com has been registered now
AbdulBasit Makrani says
Funny Tool,
I don’t think Nywar.com even passes radio test. One can type Niwar.com, Nivar.com, Niver.com, Niwer.com…

Thank for sharing!
indeed, some of them are difficult to spell.
Brandable Domain Names says
It’s a shame but it hasn’t been updated for years. It’s showing names registered a few years ago as being available. This would have been a fantastic tool for todays domaining market.
