.Co now has over 1.5 million domains registered.
The .co domain namespace has hit a new milestone: 1.5 million domain names.
The .co domain name ticker rolled over a big digit overnight:
This is a pretty huge number of domain names within 3 years of launch, especially with .co’s premium pricing.
Interesting times are ahead as new top level domains roll out. I suspect a lot of new top level domain backers hope to achieve just 100,000 or so registrations at some point in their lifespan — and that’s at much lower registration prices.
Congratulations to .co on this milestone.

Really an important milestone. Congrats to Lori, Juan and the others.

In the age of the new TLD, they really hit it just before a change was coming. 1.5 million is nothing to scoff at. Although after-market domains will continue to be sold in very small numbers, it is still a tribute to the company. Good for them.

I’ll say this about .co: they work really hard to spread awareness and will work for each and every registration. Even though they have 1.5 million domains, they look at every conversation they have with an entrepreneur as an opportunity to move the ticker one number higher.

How special: A milestone … for a millstone.

Sounds like a traffic leakage factory. The kind I like.

Is there a way to independently verify this 1.5million number?
If so, how many domains are reserved by the registry?
Do they count towards the “registrations”.
Also, some registrars will hold pending deletes indefinitely so they are technically still “registered” by the registrant but never drop.
So, if there is some way to independently verify this 1.5million number, please post a link here.
