A completely refreshed Afternic.com will be released this week.
On Friday Afternic sent a notice to its registered users that the site is getting a major overhaul sometime this week.
When I was at Afternic’s office back in July they gave me a sneak peek of the new system. From what I saw, the new site will be a huge improvement.
Both major domain name marketplaces — Afternic and Sedo — were originally built for the old way of selling domain names. Back then almost all domains were sold through negotiation or auction. There were few fixed price sales, little distribution of domain sales listings, and no instant-transfer technologies.
As these have been layered in, the marketplaces have shoe-horned the new processes into old systems.
Afternic’s release this week will be more of a complete overhaul designed for the new realities of domain name selling. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I’d rather they overhaul their customer service which is the pits.

Still can’t easily bulk-edit all of the domains in your portfolio like you can at Sedo. I prefer simplicity of design and functionality so I do prefer the old design.
