Nearly half of domains in auction have already hit their reserves.
It’s genuinely refreshing to see a domain name auction with good quality mid-market domain names and reasonable reserves. That’s how I’d describe the current Dotster auction on SnapNames.
With just 24 hours to go, the auction looks like it will be a big success. I count 38 domain names that have met their reserve already. That’s nearly half of the 81 listings.
This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise when you look at the inventory. There are some good domains in there and all have reserves south of $5,000.
Four letter domains such as lood.com, fuga.com, and refe.com are attracting the most attention.
The highest bid so far is $3,500 for PhoenixInsurance.com, which seems like a good deal at the price. A couple good comps would be AtlantaInsurance.com which sold for $6,000 and KnoxvilleInsurance.com which sold for $2,000 (according to DNSalePrice.com). Knoxville is much smaller than Phoenix. InsuranceChicago.com, an inferior name due to word order, sold for $1,850.
Here are some other domains I like and their current bids:
Decide.net $850
MyTracks.com $750
PublicDefenders.com $675
PersianFood.com $625
Abow.com $325
iHoroscopes.com (no bids)
