King’s latest venture applies for ten top level domains.
Raymond King, the co-founder of SnapNames (later bought by Oversee.net and then KeyDrive) and founder of AboutUs, Inc., is applying for 10 top level domain names through his new company Top Level Design, LLC.
King has partnered with early stage investor Peter Brual, who doesn’t appear to have a background in the domain industry but is an advisor at AboutUs.
Top level Design has applied for .blog, .llc, .group, .wiki, .gay, .art, .style, .design, .ink, and .photography. Many of these domains (if not all) will be contested by other applicants.
The company is using CentralNic as its backend registry services provider and Iron Mountain for escrow.
King is also director of ICANNWiki.com.
.ART is my pick for the breakout tld. I see half a dozen applicants or more.
Well all these guys made some nice money early on, so throw some more on the fire, and let’s see how much smoke we can create.
From a photographers standpoint (me!) I can see the value of .photography as a perfect extension to create sub domains & email for photographers.
If I had a cool 185 thou and yearly ongoings to keep .photography active, I’d be applying for sure!
