Site files complaint over .info domain name.
The controversial RipOff Report web site that allows people to leave reports of alleged ripoffs and scams has filed a “report” of its own.
The owner of RipOff Report has filed a UDRP case against the registrant of RipOffReport.info. RipOff Report’s web address is RipOffReport.com. RipOffReport.com is one of the top 1,000 sites in the U.S. according to Quantcast.
Until recently RipOffReport.info was registered to a Tuscon, Arizona man. But the domain expired and was registered to a new person (who’s hiding behind whois privacy) on April 14.
So far the new site has just the skeleton of a new WordPress blog.
Xcentric Ventures, LLC, the registrant of RipOffReport.com, is based in Tempe, Arizona. I have reached out to the site for a comment about this case and will update the story if I hear back.
why do you write “(who’s hiding behind whois privacy)” ? many domainers and even companies use whois protection. You make it sound shady to use whois protection…
@ DomainersChoice – in this case, the person is “hiding”.
Is there still a reward for information relating to the whereabouts of the owner of Ripoff Report?
If you want some real legal-tainment, you might look at the litigation history of that outfit.
@John Berryhill, no reward AFAIK. Last December I published a blog post pointing out that a judge in Arizona had determined that the “fugitive” story was an invention.
