Affairs dating site wants control of AshleyMadison.mobi.
I guess if you’re in to cheating on your spouse, it’s probably best to look at dating listings on your mobile phone rather than your home computer.
Avid Life Media Inc., the company behind affair personals site Ashley Madison, has filed a UDRP complaint to get the domain name AshleyMadison.mobi.
The domain is owned by someone in China. The registrant has listed the domain for sale on Sedo with an asking price of 10,000 GBP.
AshleyMadison.mobi resolves to a simple web page that says “WAP website, All rights reserved”.
This is the third time Avid Life Media has turned to arbitration to recover a domain name. Last year it was awarded ashleymadison.cc and cougarlife.com.au through domain arbitration.

Should be a slam dunk case for Ashley Madison to get their .mobi domain.

With respect to the story you chose to publish about our initiating a udrp claim with respect to Ashleymadison.mobi let me clarify some inaccuracies in the story to which you linked and Avid’s position on IP enforcement.
First, we were contacted directly by the serial cybersquatter in China with an offer to purchase the domain in question not for 10,000 GBP but for 100,000 (one hundred thousand) GBP. This is the precise reason why udrp proceedings exist in an effort to bring a modicum of order and regulation to the internet as this is a clear example of bad-faith cybersquatting.
Of course, it is well known that Chinese based enterprises believe they are immune to international intellectual property laws, but this is not the case.
Avid Life Media of course makes every effort to protect and enforce its IP rights around the world and we will continue to aggressively do so on a number of fronts in order to protect the goodwill related to our brands and registered trademarks that we have invested so much time, effort and resources to cultivate and grow.
In fact, the online dating industry would be much better off if it would band together in an effort to rid our industry of some of its more criminal elements and those who blatantly disregard IP rights.

@ Ashley Madison Legal –
So tell me what’s inaccurate in the story? The only thing you mention is the price. I reported that the domain is currently listed for sale for 10,000 GBP, which is true.

We will be happy to repost the comment noting that it is simply a clarification and that your report is accurate.
However our position regarding IP rights and the background as to why we initiated the UDRP proceeding is an important additional aspect to this story.
