Company may be acquiring three letter domain name for its web services offering.
Amazon.com has registered wwwaws.com, a common typo of aws.com.
AWS is the acronym for the company’s popular Amazon Web Services platform.
It’s unusual for a company to register a typo of a domain name it doesn’t own, and it makes me wonder if the company is working on acquiring the AWS.com domain name to redirect to aws.amazon.com.
AWS.com is registered to AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc., an environmental measurement company known for its “Weatherbug” service. The company just changed its name to Earth Networks, Inc. this year. If you type in AWS.com you’ll get a notice that you’re being forwarded to EarthNetworks.com.
Stay tuned…

I just checked at sedo,
awservices.org and awservices.us are available to register.
awservices.net is already registered
awservices.com is “make offer”
(with two offers)

Nice find. AWS.com would be a great pickup for Amazon and a good move for AWS Convergence if they can sell for a good price. It doesn’t seem they will need the domain anymore because of their recent rebranding that you mentioned.
For Amazon affiliates, the Aug. 22nd Forbes has a great article about California’s $10 billion budget shortfall and how they are eyeing internet retailers and specifically Amazon and its affiliate program to close the gap.
