New York show changed to a meetup and Las Vegas show canceled.
Oversee.net has made some changes to its remaining DOMAINfest shows for 2011.
First, the New York show planned for August will now be an evening meetup instead of a one day “Power Networking” day. The event will take place August 23 from 7-10 pm at the Mad46 Rooftop Lounge. Registration isn’t open yet but the web site notes it will be $150.
I’m a bit disappointed in this change because the New York show last year was pretty good. The decision to change the format has been on the DOMAINfest web site since before last week’s Barcelona show.
Second, the company has canceled its planned November show in Las Vegas. A company spokesperson told me the show was eliminated because it’s so close to the franchise’s main event in Los Angeles in early 2012. This makes sense to me.
What do you think about the change to the New York show? Were you planning to attend, and does this change affect your decision?
Doesn’t surprise me much, with the continuing decline of parking and increased competition there is surely a need to scale all this stuff right back. At the end of the day *we* are paying for all these events.
Looks like Oversee is discontinuing the monthly auctions, too:

Moniker should jump on the bandwagon of income-producing domains, with Rick Latona, IMO.
More expensive than a preferred seat to watch the Mavs at the NBA final!
I’m disappointed, even thought i live here in NY and its an easy commute i agree with you Andrew that last years event was a success and to scale it down is a disappointment. But will be there at the roof top anyway. Hope to see you there.
