Domain sales listing network expands with European domain name registrars.
Afternic has signed a deal with three European companies to join the Afternic’s Premium Listing program. The three companies collectively own 12 domain registrars.
The domain name registrars will use Afternic’s instant transfer technology. This enables customers to purchase domain names through the typical domain registration process and get the domain names instantly.
The three companies are Luxembourg-based EuroDNS, UK-based GroupNBT, and Italian-based DaDaPro.
Afternic has traditionally been weak when it comes to European exposure and country code domain name sales. This should give the company a boost for the former, and hopefully it can add more country code domains to its instant transfer program in the future.
The pitfall of instant transfer technology is that 70% of the buyers use fraudulent credit cards, and immeditely try to sell the domain names before they get caught; 20% register the domain name paying the requested price, without realizing that they are paying $100’s or $1000’s of dollars for the domain name, and when they find out, they do a chargeback, or the registrar has to eat up the cost; and 10% are legitimate. As great as it sounds, the old-fashioned way is more secure and remains the best way.
