Gary Chernoff scores with latest domain sale.
One of the earliest domain investors, Garry Chernoff, has sold the domain name DoorHardware.com for a solid $85,000 with the help of Sedo.
The buyer doesn’t have a clear connection to the business based on the whois record alone, so it will be interesting to watch this domain over time.
Sedo also closed on a number of .co domains from its recent auction:
shop.co 22000 USD

There is just something special about being a domain pioneer. I imagine if I had owned DoorHardware.com I would have a hard time pretty much ever selling it for more than 4 figures let alone have the expectation or balls of looking for high 5 figures on Sedo. I imagine it’s the combination of massive portfolios of all sorts of domains mixed with the lack of urgency to sell any of them. Ah the law of large numbers.
It’s good to see domain names being set this way, easy to read DoorHardware.com
In my opinion, Sedo sells many overpriced domains. They don’t even allow a domainer to set a value above $10,000 unless they don’t purchase their appraisal.
Why even order an appraisal when an appraisal when they don’t make any difference to an end-user? They’re too frugal to pay $200 than to invest $85,000.
In my opinion, there is too much hype on mediocre domains. Luckily DoorHardware.com produces good performance stats to back up the sale.

Words seem to get misplaced. Would be good to edit a post after submitting it.
.io is quietly outpacing .co in comparative sales:
In the past three weeks (from DNournal):
Soc.io sells for $2,500
Food.io sells for $10,000
Those keywords would NEVER have sold for that much in the .co extension. Keep your eyes peeled for more .io sales.
Andrew, a site is now live on DoorHardware.com. I wrote a little bit about it today at the link in my signature.
