Microsoft gets domain name to go along with popular Kinect product.
Microsoft has purchased the domain name Kinect.com, updated whois records show.
The company launched its popular motion based Kinect system for Xbox last year, and it was a hot Christmas gift.
Last week the company filed a UDRP to get a typo of Kinect.com, wwwKinect.com. At about the same time, both Kevin Murphy and I noted that Microsoft might be trying to acquire Kinect.com. Apparently we were right.
A marketing group called Kinect under the CorbettAccel umbrella sold the domain name. It used to forward to a page within their web site, but did not resolve when I checked it last week.
The domain name still doesn’t resolve at the time of writing.

ryan’s deal?
A great move by them, I love my Kinect and I think it is going to change the way people play video games from now on.
Good move by microsoft to secure all the potential type-in traffic.
People at OWN should learn a lesson from this……….!
It will be interesting to see what how much the purchase of this domain will help Microsoft from a sales revenue aspect for the Kinect system. At least it’s early in the “Kinect Era” and there is still a lot of xbox users who are on the fence whether it is worth the purchase. This domain acquisition is definitely a smart move.
Thx for the tip of the hat
