US country code auction sells over $40,000 worth of domain names.
[Updated: the official tally is 30 domains sold. I originally reported 29 domains sold.] Moniker’s .us domain name auction sold 29 30 of 86 domain names, or 35%. That’s a much stronger showing than recent online auctions held by the company. The key to success was a lot of good keyword domain names with low reserves. Having them at prices most people can afford helped, too.
In total over $40,000 worth of .us domain names sold. The top sale was Flights.us at $11,770.
Below is my unofficial recording of the results. At the time of posting, the auction for Psychics.us is still ongoing due to multiple 5 minute extensions. (updated)

Over a dozen 4 figure + sales is great to see. .US investors definitely showed up with their wallets (I almost walked away with debtconsolidation but gave up a bit too soon). While it’s disappointing to not see Candy and Slots sell through, really they will need “brokering” to get the maximum out of them.
Moniker. I just love them :\
Moniker shaving hard affiliates, same with Snapnames/Essociate:

What Monte Cahn think about others intelectual property (which domains are sort of crossed with online real estate).

Not a bad showing. Many of these domains sold for much lower prices in the past.
.US is a value play. Sure a good keyword might sell for $500 – 2K, but what matters is the ROI. There is money to be made.
I know for a fact there was some behind the scenes action on at least one top domain that did not sell.
Brad
Some of the top domains that didn’t sell were too good of a keyword for a domainer market at the present time. The way I look at it is that a good .US domain will only increase in value from here on, so something that the domainers didn’t want to pay four or five figures for this year might sell in the six figures by next year. 🙂
i have read that .us is a sleeping giant , imagine the value once america embraces this extension

A lot of good .us domains are dropping in the next few days.
I have already picked up a few, one awesome Geo (ski resort city) for reg fee.
Keep your eyes open.
