Content and domain name behemoth Demand Media splashes more color.
Demand Media’s business model has evolved over time, so it’s only natural that the company is refreshing its image.
Today the company released a new web site and logo. The top image in this post is the company’s new logo; the bottom image is the old. The old image was much more reserved and corporate, while the new one is on the fringe. My first thought when I saw the new home page was similarity to Live Current Media’s web site.
Demand’s new web site features the slogan “Publishing What The World Wants to Know & Share”. The key call to action is to join the company’s army of freelance writers, photographers, and videographers who create thousands of pieces of content every day.
My personal take is that the new logo is, well, interesting. There certainly won’t be room for confusion with other companies as hot pink and baby blue aren’t very common corporate colors. Choosing to go with an edgy, pink and white on black web design is also a far cry from the typical media company. I’m curious for your thoughts.

Like it! Not a fan of flash movies. The interface is clean & crisp. On my tube, 16-inch monitor at 1024 X 768 resolution, the site loads with sideways scroll bar – does anyone else get a sideways scrollbar? It would be problematic for laptop, I’m afraid.
The pink pops, and is memorable.

I like it too. Stands out. Great color combo imo.

Yes Louise.
On this 20″ iMac, I also get a horizontal scroll bar.

Jeez, they could use a few more Executive Vice Presidents couldn’t they?

I don’t like that new logo at all. Feels like they are trying too hard.

I could get a 10X better logo from an Indian graphics designer for $25.

Logo is hideous.
