Registrar sells another five figure domain name through Go Daddy Auctions.
GoDaddy has sold the domain name BusinessTube.com through its Go Daddy Auctions (aka TDNAM) platform for $25,000. The domain name was registered back in 2006 and just purchased by a California man. A visit to BusinessTube.com shows a logo with a message that the site will be going online this summer.
Here are some other sales Go Daddy made in the past two weeks:
PianoPlace.com $9,500
GarageBuilders.com $7,500
iCraft.com $5,500
PlatinumCreditCard.com $3,555
MundoVideos.com $3,505
SpringAhead.com $3,188
Cannabisville.com $3,006
CellSure.com $3,000
FleetCommerce.com $2,235
TheBridalBoutique.com $2,227
MagnetNerd.com $2,130
MW06SV.com $2,005
CreditRepair.biz $1,950
GetPR.net $1,900
SpinTheBottle.org $1,277
DeclineAndFall.net $1,055
Spyder.net $1,006
Fashion-ation.net $1,005
A couple of these look really good, including PlatinumCreditCard.com.
Keep in mind that with Go Daddy these sales barely scratch the surface. They don’t include Premium Listing sales and privacy transactions brokered by the company, which together make up the bulk of the company’s high dollar sales.
I recently have two domains that sold thur Godaddy premium auctions. I didnt know they can keep 30% AND take more than 45 days after the end of the month to pay you. That is foul!!!
@ orenet – did you not read the commission details first? Just price it into your domain.
orenet,
I agree. 30% is excessive. And, 45 days is too long.
They have the ‘eyes’ so if you want to sell the domain, you have to pay the price.
As Andrew said, “just price it into your domain”.
And, you can also use that same price when you load it into BuyDomains. If BD sells it (20% commission), you make extra revenue.
I feel BD’s 20% commission is a ‘little’ too high.
When selling through BD, you are also competing with NameMedia and Oversee inventory which is more than 1/2 of the total database.
I second orenet.
I have a portfolio of 5000 names to sell but 30% is too steep. So I will try eslewhere.
Yes, you can price it into the domain name but that makes it that much harder to sell.
You will think with their size and reach, they could undercut everyone else and make it up with volume. But that’s just me.
Regards.

It’s the opposite in this case. Because of their size and reach, they can charge more.
don’t forget the domain also has to be registered at godaddy
so another obstacle
30% is just too obscene. i refuse on principle to use
frankly how anyone can charge more than 10% is beyond me
tube.com domains have and always do sell for good money
you have two of the 2 biggest brands on earth
.com and tube
people know what they’re getting
I agree with you there, Andrew. The problem is that it leaves room for competitors.
I am from the school of Sam Walton and Walmart. Sell them cheap and sell them a lot.
