Keynote named for next week’s conference.
The agenda for next week’s Targeted T.R.A.F.F.I.C. domain name conference has been updated and now includes a keynote: Joseph McClendon III.
McClendon is founder of Pro-Sequences Research Group, a “Peak Performance coaching organization”. This appears to be a very different keynote than from past conferences.
Other changes to the agenda:
-Brunch of Friday will include a talk on international tax structure sponsored by Rowbotham & Company.
-New TLD session on Friday has a description “Hear it from the experts as the “generic.com” and “.generic TLD” battle it out for Supremacy.”
-WIPO reviews session – this has been on the agenda for a while, but I’m hearing good things about the structure of this session.
-NameJet has been named sponsor of the drop catching session on Saturday
TRAFFIC will take place at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas January 21-23. Conference passes are still available.
That seems lame for a keynote for a domain conference.
One of the fascinating things about “Domainers”
and the “Domain Industry” is that many of
the famous people have never crossed paths
with real DNS people.
For many Domainers, their entire view of the
industry is a Registrar platform interface
or some drop-catching tools they bought.
They of course also rub elbows with their
fellow Domainers that buy low and sell
high.
If one relates events from the 90s about
DNS or points out collusion between the
insiders it means nothing to Domainers.
All they seem to care about is, “The
trains run on time.”
Likewise, when one turns and surveys the
dozens of insiders who operate the DNS
Casino there is very little overlap with
the Domainers.
Maybe this is like Vegas? One could ask
a high-roller Black Jack player “Who owns
the Casino?” and they likely would not know
(or care). Likewise, the owners have little
interest discussing their new high payout
slot machine strategy. The players will see
it when they see it.
