Sedo acquires another domain name parking company.
In a long rumored transaction, Sedo has acquired domain name parking company ParkingPanel.com for an undisclosed price.
ParkingPanel was launched in 2006, but ran into a few roadblocks. In March of 2008 it lost its advertising feed and was forced to look for an alternate provider. It announced its relaunch in August of 2008. But, like many small domain name parking companies, it has faced a tough slough in today’s domain parking environment.
Sedo will incorporate the ParkingPanel.com brand into its own, and transition all of ParkingPanel’s customers over to Sedo. This transition should be completed before the end of the month.
Sedo acquired another small parking company, RevenueDirect, in February of 2009 for $825,000.
The PPC industry is following the standard “rolling up” stategy of an imploding market.
I’m sure all of the secondary ppc companies with merge with others.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see NameMedia sell that part of their business.
@ Domain Investor – NameMedia sell that part of their business? I think it’s actually a sizeable chunk of their business.
Any ideas how much ParkingPanel sold to Sedo for?
Also, what did they sell exactly? Just the parking software with clients / domains pointed to it?
They only had about 20,000 resolving domains.
What happened to their Google feed? Do they still have it?
Matt – no idea how much it sold for yet. They basically bought the customers, but there’s no automatic process to transfer accounts. Basically they sent an email to Parking Panel customers and told them how to add their domains to Sedo. Sedo is offering a free showcase category listing to customers that keep their domains at Sedo for at least 30 days. Given the circumstances, I doubt they paid much.
Yeah, seems like they just wanted to burn ParkingPanel to the ground, otherwise they’d take the extra steps to create accounts automatically or merge them.
Yeah, I doubt they paid much too. Sad to see it go, PP was rather small though but nice software behind it from the looks of it.
