Marchex co-founder and former iREIT CEO will lead Moniker and SnapNames divisions.
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net has name Craig Snyder General Manager of its registrar and aftermarket divisions (i.e. Moniker and SnapNames).
Snyder co-founded domain name and local search company Marchex (MCHX) before joining Houston-based Internet REIT.
Internet REIT was plagued by problems during his tenure, but most of these were rooted in decisions made prior to his arrival. Many industry observers believe Snyder was brought in to clean up the company. Originally hired as vice-president, Snyder later replaced co-founder Bob Martin as CEO.
Snyder will report to Peter Celeste, Oversee’s Senior Vice President for Domain Services. He will face the challenge of reinvigorating SnapNames as it moves from a primarily expired domain service to a complete aftermarket solution, and boosting Moniker’s top and bottom line in the face of declining auction revenue.
The hiring of Snyder will not affect the role of Moniker founder Monte Cahn.

“The hiring of Snyder will not affect the role of Moniker founder Monte Cahn”. That’s funny.
Andrew Allemann says
@ David – What I mean by that is he’s not changing roles.

That is correct. Craig is replacing my former GM – Steve Yeich who replaced my former partner Eric Harrington. Craig and I will work very closely together, he will represent us in LA and Portland very well as my travel is more limited. Craig’s primary role will be running Operations of the registrar and aftermarket sides of our business while I also run sales and the GP sides of those along with DomainSponsor.

This reminds me, I wonder what will happen to all the Internet REIT domains since they’ve gone under? It sounds like there are many thousands of domains that are essentially stuck under a ghost company’s control.

Looking at the shape Marchex and iReit are in, is hiring Craig Snyder a positive step for Oversee.net?
Stephen Douglas says
Hi Craig Snyder!

say good bye mr snyder…your stuttering staggering response to the scandal breaking over you has fallen flat, no one should sign away their rights to recovery ever, and the re-rebate proves you should have never taken that route as snapnames then locked out every one from their bid history from public view…Nixon himself would have been very proud.
