GeoDomain expo will take place in San Diego next month.
Associated Cities executive director Patrick Carleton just released this statement from president and acting chair Dan Pulcrano:
The 2009 Geodomain Expo is going full steam ahead. AC has an iron-clad contract with the hotel, a theme, confirmed attendees and sponsors. SanDiego.com emailed us today to say they were fully on board.
Interest is especially high now thanks to the publicity windfall of the DNJournal coverage, and the collapse of several daily newspapers. Nothing could be more timely and important than focusing on the future of local media at this critical moment in history.
Reports of the Geodomain Expo’s demise — and suggestions that this had anything to do with the economy — were obviously greatly exaggerated.
Although the organization’s board is going through upheaval, I’m glad to hear the event is still on. As I suspected, this had more to do with internal issues than the economy. Last year’s GeoDomain expo in Chicago had record attendance — even more people than some industry wide events — and I’d hate to see the conference lose its momentum. Early bird registration for the event, taking place April 23-25, is $595.
