New WhyPark platform released today.
Domain parking alternative WhyPark launched its enhanced platform today. Domain Name Wire previewed the new platform back in October.
After playing around with the system I must say I’m impressed. WhyPark 2.0 (as I’ll call it) is like an incubator for growing traffic and revenue for domain names. It’s ideal for domains that don’t get much type-in traffic and will only generate revenue through organic traffic.
Start with a domain, categorize it, then add a site description and keywords (WhyPark suggests keywords to you). In the example below, WhyPark had 165 articles for use on my domain:
You can choose to add custom articles as well using WhyPark’s custom content service ($19).
Next, you choose from dozens of layout options. You can fully customize layouts and get access to the HTML for fine-tuned editing. Then choose if you want to use WhyPark’s pay-per-click network or insert third party ads (e.g. Adsense). You can also add custom text links.
Now your site is live, and you have a number of editing options. You can add custom pages, change the order of pages, monitor user-generated comments across your network of sites, and choose promotion options. WhyPark has a menu of fee-based promotion tools such as article creation and submission to third party sites ($29), RSS feed syndication ($9), and directory submission ($19).
Overall I think the new system looks promising and is a huge advancement over WhyPark’s previous platform. I plan to play around with it over the next week to dive in to its functionality.

I would wait a bit before diving into Why Parks 2.0 service. Service and site up time has been spotty in the past, and this transition on current sites has not been without problems for end users.
It appears that the majority of the upgrades to Why Park 2.0 are fee based add on services, with some minor template improvements to the basic $100 for 100 domain plan.

Who’s sample of MyHotDomain.com is that?
Looks pretty weak.
$1.60 revenue for 265 visitors is a hair above half a cent per visitor.

WQ – that’s just a mockup taken from the previous article. Not a real domain.

I think WhyPark had to do something to stay alive. WhyPark was great when you could use your Adsense ads, but since then it has been horrible. Plus most domains hosted on WhyPark are flagged by Google, and will not show Adsense ads; even after they are developed. I will never place a quality domain that I would like to develop later on WhyPark.

Thanks for the info. and the comments – I think Iwll wait before diving into WhyPark 2

There are several threads on Namepros.com regarding experiences using Whypark. Some Whypark users reported having their sites de-indexed from Google and compromising their Adsense account as well. My concern seems to be that even an “improved” Whypark site could be considered essentially an MFA (Made For Adsense). If you use some of the articles available, surely you’ll get the Google-slap for duplicate content?

Hi everyone. I just wanted to address some of the comments.
Dennis – a lot of the new platform upgrades are in the enhanced service you mentioned, like the automated newsletter delivery, rss feed publishing, image hosting, etc. However, we’ve made a lot of enhancements behind the scenes and in our overall infrastructure too to address the stability you mentioned and make the sites perform better. We also have a lot of checks in place to prevent the over-syndication of any one article along with new content licensing deals for more content. The domain manager area has also been completely overhauled to make it easier to manage sites in bulk, get better reporting, etc. That’s all at the standard level.
John – we’re certainly alive and have grown considerably over the past year. Many customers do use AdSense and others use our feed. We have a lot in the works right now on the monetization too, which we hope to roll out by the end of this month.
We don’t offer a free ticket to the top of the search results, but we do provide a platform that lets you quickly develop your sites including the ability to create and use unique layouts, add custom content, generate new incoming links, build subscriber lists, etc. The domains that perform the best are with those customers who put some work into their domains and utilize the platform to the fullest. Our standard offering helps you gain new links, bring in new visitors, retain them and get repeat traffic. It’s also a great way to determine which of your domains you should plan for further development.
I always appreciate the feedback, whether it’s positive or negative, so feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns you’d like addressed.
Thanks,
Craig Rowe

I’ve yet to see where users can leave comments on WhyPark sites. I’ve checked all-around, and it appears that there is no new comment feature.
Also, there are still no RSS feeds being generated for the WhyPark sites. I attempted to use a third-party application to generate an RSS feed but it apparently doesn’t work with WhyPark sites. I can’t find any indication that these sites are even feed-compatible.
The only change I’ve noticed is with the control panel’s appearance. There does not appear to be any new features to speak of.
Craig Rowe says
Peter – The features you mentioned here are with the enhanced and managed account level. Please email us at support@whypark.com if you have some account-specific questions so we can be sure to help you quickly.
A lot of the newest features are included with the enhanced options with a monthly fee, although we did add new functionality to sites that are not paying the monthly fee as well. We’ve also added a variety of managed and promotional services. The features supported at each level are available at http://www.whypark.com/pricing.htm.
Again, please feel free to contact us directly so we can talk through your account and ensure your sites are running smoothly for you.
Thanks,
Craig

No way, got my sites deindexed and lost my adsense account. No thank you.
Martin Blakley says
Well actually that is one of the domains that I own and run a domain registration business with. Strange that he would pick my name out of the air.
