Domainers head to New Orleans to learn about risk management (and partying).
Modern Domainer Magazine’s Domainer Mardi Gras will take place in New Orleans February 19-21, 2009. The event is produced by Modern Domainer with support from Parked.com and other sponsors.
According to an advance copy of the agenda obtained by Domain Name Wire, the event will focus on risk management for domainers. The conference overview reads:
The domain name industry witnessed dramatic changes in 2008. Today’s Modern Domainer is being impacted by rising domain name registration fees, approval of new Top Level Domains, changes in monetization rules by advertising network providers, new tax implications and by an increase in domain name related lawsuits. Modern Domainer invites you to an industry gathering to address these challenges during Domainer Mardi Gras: Risk Management for the Modern Domainer. In the conference you will learn about risk management tools that can assist in managing protecting and growing domain name investments. And oh yeah – Domainer Mardi Gras is in New Orleans during Mardi Gras – also known as THE GREATEST FREE SHOW ON EARTH!
Taxes and risk are never fun topics, but they should be educational and there’s nothing like getting advice from professionals. It’s also very timely given the current legal and economic environment. Mixed in with a heavy dose of partying and parade watching, the event looks like a winner.
Domainer Mardis Gras kicks off with a cocktail party and keynote on Thursday, February 19. The first evening concludes with an authentic crawfish boil and parade watching. Friday includes several educational sessions including tax risks and offshoring. Saturday has a couple sessions, an awards ceremony, a party, and what domain conference would be complete without a live domain auction?
Early bird registration runs through Friday and is $695. Registration and conference information is available online at DomainerMardiGras.com.
