A bit of research turns up a probable registrant of Hillary4McCain.com.
I read a story on Wired.com today about the domain name Hillary4Mccain.com, which was registered with bogus whois information. The John McCain camp denies having anything to do with the domain.
So who owns the domain? I did a little research on DomainTools, and it leads to one person: Charles Reyna.
Here’s what I did:
1. Looked up Hillary4McCain.com
2. Did a reverse IP search to see the seven other web sites hosted on the same IP
3. Looked up the whois on all 7 domains. Several had whois privacy, but all of the others are registered by one Charles Reyna of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Of course it could just be a case of another person hosting his or her sites on the same IP. I tried to call Reyna on the phone number listed in whois, but it’s not a working number. My next step is to file invalid whois complaints on the domains. GoDaddy will suspend the domains if the information isn’t updated. I’ll update this story if I get anywhere.
looks like this guy…

@ Gordon – yep. I wouldn’t go searching for his other sites if you’re sensitive to that stuff 🙂

You should be ashamed of yourself. How would you like it If I revealed you ss# to the world.
You are very optimistic about suspending inaccurate data domains. According to my years of experience you can be sure it wont happen.
Its still my opinion that fake info suck as godaddy does and I would never use a registrar that doesnt offer free privacy.
Jeff is a bit off topic with SSN’s.
Asking for correct whois data is just good and proper.
@ Jeff – this isn’t a case of someone using whois privacy and me uncovering them. It’s a case of someone abusing the system by using fake whois data and me uncovering them. If they want to use whois privacy, that’s their choice.
@ Mario – GoDaddy has become very diligent about suspending domains with invalid whois info.
Why should you care if someone uses fake whois. Who are you rat on people?
@Jeff, @Andrew
Speaking from experience dealing with scammers and spammers in our hosting business, I am all for transparency and accurate data on domain registrations.
You should consider all sides of whois privacy, and the possibility of using fake information.

Color me inexperienced (I think that’s a shade of yellow) but how do you do a reverse IP search on someone? (anyone can answer this one!)
I have privacy on my domains and I want to see if someone would be able to track ME down like this. It’s a little scary and aggravating if one is paying for privacy. My WhoIs information is accurate, I just don’t want annoying phone calls or spam.
Thanks to anyone who can fill me in!
@Antoinette
Use a site like: myipneighbors.com

Andrew … Thanks for showing us another example of the internet police exerting their influence on domains they have no claim too.
The only thing this guy was guilty of was not putting his info for obvious reasons for what could have been just a parody site.
Last I heard it wasn’t illegal to parody public figures. How soon before some public figure or corporation decides one of your domains should be in their hands? I’ll enjoy reading that account.
Whenever I do a parody site or political site, I put my correct whois information. If you believe in something, you shouldn’t be afraid for people to know you’re behind it.

Thats honorable of you to apply your opinion and definition tp others … but is it something that “everyone” must follow?
No disrespect, but I can’t seem to find that written in stone anywhere.
You’ve done a fine job for Hilary … she has the domain now … her life is complete.
@ curious one – you don’t have to put your info out there if you want to hide, just get domain privacy. And Hillary doesn’t have the domain now, Reyna does.
I am unclear why you picked this domain out of 200,000,000 domains…
@DNCartoons – I didn’t pick this domain, I was responding to a Wired article. I don’t know why they picked up on it.
For the record, I’m not a Clinton supporter 🙂
