Report analyzes sale values, usage of three letter .com domains.
Last month I wrote an article titled “How Much is a Three Letter Domain Name Worth?“. I analyzed a few aspects of three letter domains and how they affect value: if the three letters spell a word, what acronyms the three letters may represent, and if other versions (e.g. .net) of the three letters are being used).
NameBio just released an in-depth report about three letter .com domain sales. NameBio analyzed the 33 publicly reported three letter .com sales in the past 60 days. Among its findings:
-27 of the 33 domains are parked
-Domains that are now active web sites generally sold for more
-Lower-priced three letter domains include “weak” letters such as J, K, Q, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z
You may view the complete report here.
NameBio has a wealth of sales data and I hope they continue to release reports such as this one. I’d also like to see this report’s domain usage data updated in about 6 months. It’s possible that some buyers have plans for these three character domains but they are parking them until they are ready to launch their web sites.

Alleged “weak letters” might be “strong letters” for other domainers.
For instance, anything with the letter “J” is likely to be used for “Jobs”-related names, which have a good value.
I could easily provide examples like this for all the so-called “weak letters”, including “Z” ; )
