Jerry Nolte tells domainers about Domainer’s Magazine, the new print publication for the domain name industry.
Domainer’s Magazine will debut at the upcoming DOMAINfest conference. I recently asked magazine founder Jerry Nolte about the magazine.
DNW: Who is behind Domainer’s Magazine? Why did you decide to launch a print magazine for the domain industry — and why now? How long have you been planning this venture?
Nolte: My business partners and I have been tossing the idea around for this for a year plus now. So finally we as domainers ourselves decided to invest in this idea to see if it would catch on. And so far the results have been overwhelmingly positive!
Simply, It was time… There has been a void in this industry and we wanted to fill it. We are hoping in the future to help the domain industry gain recognition outside of our own industry by getting into newsstands, bookstores and other mainstream venues.
DNW: What are some of the articles in the premier issue?
Nolte: I will list some for you. Aside from our recurring articles such as Domainer’s Legal, Domainer’s Toolbox, Gadget Corner, Classifieds, Domain Sales, some of our feature articles in the premier issue will be:
Domain Negotiations – How to get more for your domain, Top News Stories of 2006, Industry Shows (an Overview), Domain Name Reselling (How to become a Domainer), Tertiary Keywords (How to use PPC to get traffic to your developed site more effectively), How to Build a Million Dollar Marketing Machine, How to Create A Unique Selling Proposition.
These are very diverse articles in order to keep everyones attention from novice to pro!
DNW: Can you name a few of the advertiser’s supporting your first issue?
Nolte: CPXpress, Domain Capital, Domain Name Wire, Domain Sponsor, DomainFest, GoDaddy, Humane Society, iMonetize, Internet Commerce Association, Internet Traffic Signal, IPNIC, iReit, KlickerZ, Mercurylink.net, Park Quick, Parked, Red Cross, Roaming, Sedo, Stone Edge Technologies, Strategic Solutions, StuffKidsLike.com, Sweat.mobi, TRAFFIC, TrueMagic.com.
DNW: Right now the magazine is bi-monthly. Do you think it could shift to monthly in the future?
Nolte: Maybe someday… But not for a few months at least… Hopefully before next year.
People can subscribe Internationally or in the US/Canada from the web page at a discount and we will also offer a webpage viewable online version to subscribers in the near future.

Andrew, speaking of domain name reselling, when is the next issue of the Domain Selling 101 series going to come out? 🙂
Editor says
Soon, and sorry for the delay. As you may have read, my hard drive crashed. This has set me back substantially.
Good think I back up this blog 🙂
Michael Monahan says
I can’t wait for this magazine to come out!

This is a really exciting development in the domain industry. Hopefully we’ll see distribution beyond domain conferences and people who are already involved with domains. If it gets widely distributed I expect Domainer’s Magazine to be a huge success.

This magazine has been needed for a long time…
I am pleased to see it coming into being…
and in such a slick – classy way…

Dominik Mueller says
This magazine can become an important asset to the domain industry if it will get readers from outside the domain community, because it will promote domaining as a serious business. Most companies and people are still not aware of the immense value of a generic domain name. A print magazine, together with major industry conferences and news coverage, is a great chance to further educate end-users and investors from outside the business. I wish Domainer’s Magazine all the best!
Stephen Douglas says
I’m with Mueller. If you start seeing full page ads from mainstream industries, (did I see correctly that the Red Cross is an advertiser?), then this magazine will do a lot to push domains across into where they should be – in the business and public “domain”.
I’ve said it for years — we’re never going to get this rocket flying if we don’t get the public and the business community to understand and engage the power of domain names.
