The US government increased the debt ceiling to $9,000,000,000,000.00 last week.
Feedback is instant on the internet today. So I registered 9Trillion.com to give my opinion about this sad event in American history. And as any good domainer would, I also registered NineTrillion.com to make sure there was no confusion. If I have more time I’ll bolster the mini web page at 9Trillion.com, but there are a number of other web sites that do a great job detailing the amount of pork spending by our representatives.
At last week’s South By Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) in Austin, I went to the screening of a documentary called “Maxed Out”. It was about debt in America and focused mostly on the supply side of debt. The film was good, but I took issue with the lack of focus on the demand side of debt. It seems that our government is a poor role model for spending within our means.
Enough on the soapbox. Here are some other national debt domains you might register:
-10trillion.com (it’s only a matter of time!)
-DomesticDebt.com
-NationalDebtResolution.com
-PublicObligation.com
-FederalLiability.com
-USNationalDebt.org
-PublicDebtSite.com

USA per person it is $30,000 of debt in the USA, but smile because their are countries who are $56,000 per person almost twice as much debt as the USA. Look at the bright side they did this so taxes won’t go up.

At the rate we are going you might as well register 10trillion.com at the same time. I’m not sure that there is really a bright side as long as our current president is in office.

Good point, ParkQuick. This domain has a shelf life of maybe 6 months. The debt has gone up from $6.8B as of Sept 2003.
For all the economists out there, I’m not opposed to a national debt in principle. But there should be limits and prudent spending…
