Last week was a slow week for domain name sales, but buyers were back in force this week. MyBlog.com took the top spot at $400,000, according to DNJournal. Blogs are popular, but this seems like an extremely high price for a two word domain! It makes me feel smug about my purchase of Blogs.info for $3,000 🙂
Sofa.com traded hands for $200,000 in a private transaction. Viajando.com, which means “traveling” in Spanish, sold for $90,000. FantasyArt.com expired and auctioned off for $36,500 at Pool. A typo of MySpace.com, MySpac.com, sold for $31,600 (see Typosquatting: What’s the worst that can happen?).
The steal-of-the-week award goes to Castello Cities Internet Network, Inc. which picked up Manicure.com for only $5,000!
New TLDs continue to sell well. Pets.biz sold for $6,500. I think the seller could have held out for more, but this is a good chunk of change on a .biz. Uniforms.info sold for $3,250 and Birthdays.info sold for $2,900 at Sedo. I bought Nutritionist.info for $700 in a private sale. I have plans for the site but it will probably be a few weeks before launch. I have two other .info domains in closing that I should be able to talk about next week.

in your opinion….
if these two domains were equal in all factors, which do you feel would be more valuable:
the .biz or the .info version of pets ??
as in:
pets.biz
or
pets.info

That’s a very good question. It depends on the usage. If you’re a pet business trade publication, pets.biz is better. For general pet information, pets.info is better. Generally speaking, however, I’d lay my money on pets.info.
