Attention: Iron Mountain, a provider of intellectual property services, I have a free sales lead for you!
You see, Iron Mountain provides domain name management services. According to its web site, Iron Mountain offers a service to help with these common shortfallings by large companies:
-I don’t know how many domain names my company actually owns.
-Former employees registered names with multiple registrars using their own name, or they used the wrong corporate name. As a result we fear these non-standard registrations may result in loss of legal control, traffic, revenue and reputation.
-I can’t keep track of all my renewal invoices and have on occasion “lost†a domain name because we, or our service provider, failed to renew it. Senior management is unhappy.
-We don’t have a defined process to register, manage, enforce and reconcile our records across multiple departments, cost centers, and divisions and then ensure they are in sync with 250+ registries and registrars.
With regards to the last one, that “process to register” would be very helpful for Apple. As I pointed out last week (see Apple needs to get its domain name strategy together), Apple doesn’t have a working process for registering domains for potential products. Iron Mountain, please give Apple a call. You can pay me a referral fee later 🙂
