Thanks guys! I think this is great professional domainer advice, and just plain good business advice in general. I like the tip of being nice/polite/helpful – I would further this and advise domain investors to simply be honest. It can sometimes be easy to slip in dishonesty when negotiating, but I don’t think it does any good and actually hurts your business in the long run.

Not sure I agree with Bill about not building your own marketplace. I’ve seen some people do nice jobs and been successful with this.

I think Bill’s point is that people aren’t going to visit your marketplace in search of domains. They’re going to find the domain by typing it in or finding it through one of the major marketplaces. So it doesn’t make sense to invest too much time or money in created another marketplace that people won’t seek out.
