Auction at Flippa has met its reserve.
Flippa sold the domain name ClintonKaine.com earlier this month for $15,000, and it looks like it’s going to score again with TrumpPence.com.
An auction for the domain name has 23 bids and a current price of $18,734. It has met its reserve and will conclude in four days.
Both of these domain names have a very short shelf life. The elections are just a couple months away. That said, one of the domain names could be useful again in 2020 if the winners team up for another four years.
If your pockets are a bit deeper, MakeAmericaGreatAgain.com can be yours for a starting bid of $75,000.

I don’t see how these domains can be worth much money given the short window of opportunity for using them. Steering traffic toward such a domain costs even more money. So does web design.
There are plenty of ways to buy attention more cheaply and more quickly. By the time the website and marketing plan are put together, the election’s over!
Domains are worth money when they’re used long-term. They’re even worth money if you can use them for a short marketing campaign. But marketers need more lead time to prepare. In order extract that much value from a 1-month marketing blitz, you’ve got know what you’re doing well in advance.
My guess would be that – if the politicians’ handlers are buying these domains – they have no real plan to use them. Maybe they’ll cook something up. But they’re probably motivated by the fear of losing out or brand protection. It’s a reaction not a plan. If they REALLY valued these domains, then they would have bought them earlier; and they would have approached the seller rather than wait for a Flippa auction.

Exactly. Agrees with you.. that they are probably motivated by the fear of losing out and its a reaction only; not a plan.
