A funny look at why restrictions on using certain terms can have unintended consequences.
There’s been a bit of debate about certain new top level domain names needing restrictions so that the public isn’t duped. Consider .doctor, for which a restriction was proposed to limit it to “legitimate medical practitioners”.
This would eliminate the business known as the Glass Doctor from using glass.doctor. Because presumably, someone might visit the Glass.doctor website seeking medical advice.
I was reminded of this when I when I viewed a funny video this morning about the State of Texas demanding an oil change business to drop “engineers” from its name.
Enjoy.
Update: I have removed the video and now suggest you view it here — it was set to autoplay and could not be changed.
