Buyer of 5-letter .com domain name is an end user that bought its acronym.
Sedo had a fairly slow sales week last week with only 429 transactions totalling $1 million. But one domain name sale is sure to turn heads — TMHCC.com for $65,000.
Also, one of the previous week’s big buyers returned to pick up two .eu domain names for €15,000 each.
Here’s a look at end user sales at Sedo over the past week:
(You can view previous lists like this here. If you’d like to learn how to sell your domain names like these on Sedo, download this report.)
TMHCC.com $65,000 – I’m sure this domain name sale had a lot of people scratching their heads. The buyer is Tokio Marine HCC, a medical insurance company. They already own HCC.com. I wonder if they paid more for TMHCC.com than HCC.com.
Career.eu and Careers.eu €15,000 each – Wow, Bulgarian job hunting company Jobs.BG is on a roll. It paid $85,000 for Career.net last week.
AdvisorInsights.com $8,500 – A Mark Monitor client bought this domain name.
Auktion.com €4,000 – This translates to Auction in english. The buyer, which operates the site unfallauto.at, deals in accident and salvage cars. I suspect this is for auctioning such cars.
LifeBoss.com $5,700 – The buyer already has a splash page up where people can sign up for early access. The buyer is an individual in the UK.
Brand.info €5,999 – IT Analyst firm 451 Group.
FoamCraft.net $2,379 – Peachtree City Foamcraft creates monument signs, foam props and related items. It uses the domain name FoamCraft.info.
LifeDesk.com $7,500 – Recreation Supply sells exercise equipment under the Bodycraft brand. I suspect this is for an office desk with a built-in treadmill or cycle.
SeaToSki.com $3,750 – Sea To Ski Vacations USA. It also owns the great geo domain Telluride.com.
KCAllc.com $2,499 – Kindred Capital Advisors, LLC in Connecticut.
StaffSolutions.com $10,000 – Staffing firm Innovative Staff Solutions currently uses StaffSolutions.biz.
SHbio.com $3,000 – Shanghai Biotechnology Corporation uses the domain name SHbiochip.com.
TrueSmoke.com $4,500 – the vaping company that owns TrueSmoke.co.uk.

Fixed – thanks for letting me know

How did the seller get that much for those random 5Letters. I’m sure most domainers would have accepted at most 5-8k.
Even if the company approached the seller they could have anonymously offered a far smaller amount.
Ryan says
The reason why that 5L was sold for so much was it was bought from another end user, so both parties had a use, one was willing to pay more for their use.

with Tokio Marine HCC being a multi-billion dollar insurance company, guess they didn’t care too much
