ICANN sets slate going forward, but fall 2016 meeting might change.
ICANN’s Board of Directors approved a number of resolutions at its last meeting regarding upcoming meeting locations.
- ICANN 56, which was originally planned for Panama City, has been moved to Helsinki.
- ICANN 57 is currently still on the docket for San Juan, Puerto Rico. However, I expect the Puerto Rico event to be moved. Panama City was canceled due to concerns over the Zika Virus, and Puerto Rico is apparently about to get hit hard.
- ICANN 58 in March 2017 will be in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- ICANN 59 in June 2017 will be in Johannesburg, South Africa.
- ICANN 60 in October-November 2017 will be in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
ICANN has also selected locations for the first two meetings of 2018. It’s keeping that information private for negotiation purposes.
