Company makes defensive registrations for new products.
Amazon.com announced its new Echo Dot today, a smaller and stripped down version of its Amazon Echo. Of all of the smart home devices we have in our house (and we have a LOT), the Echo is by far the most used. The company also launched Amazon Tap, an Alexa-enabled portable speaker, and the “sling” protector for it.
The company loaded up on domain names for these new products, mostly to protect its brand. Among its .com registrations:
