Serial entrepreneur defends 17-year-old domain name.
Serial entrepreneur Taro Gold has successfully defended his domain name Vodex.com in a UDRP. The panel found complainant Vodex Communications to have engaged in reverse domain name hijacking by bringing the suit.
Business telecom company Vodex Communications uses the longer VodexCommunications.com domain name, which it registered in 2012. The company registered a trademark for Vodex in 2015, claiming a first-use-in-commerce of 2009.
Even that date is well after Gold registered the domain name. In his response, Gold “alleges that, since 1999, he has used the name Vodex for a voice recognition software technology that he developed; that his company was acquired by AOL in 2001, but that he retained rights to the name Vodex; that he used Vodex again in 2004 at a new company he co-founded called Teleo; that after Teleo was acquired by Microsoft, he retained the rights to the Vodex name and technology; and that he is currently using his Vodex voice recognition technology as a consultant to Nuance, a leading voice recognition software company.”

To be honest-who cares? These types of findings have ZERO repercussions to the guilty party.

It sounds like Vodex Communications is just another thief trying to steal an domain name asset from its rightful owner. Let’s add them to the Wall of Shame Rick Schwartz created.
Here is a company with absolutely no ethics, I guess. They knew they had no case and yet they tried to steal the domain so it seems.
Shame on you Vodex Communications and your damn lawyers.
I hope you and what appears to be you crooked lawyers burn in hell. I meant that.
Adam says
How come the UDRP does not mention who the complainant’s lawyers are?
They should be brought out into the light for their actions.
Barry Hinman says
funny . . Vodex.com goes to nothing . . how important could it be to Gold? Sounds like at least the phone company would have used it
Andrew Allemann says
The phone company would have used it, and I bet he’d sell it for a price.
