Joseph Peterson tracks down 67 recent end user domain name sales.
During the previous week, Sedo’s network handled 581 domain transactions totaling $1.4 million. Compared to last week, whose top 3 public sales at Sedo added up to $500k, a high of $14.5k seems pitifully small. But the total volume is up 56%.
This time, I tracked down end users for 67 domains. As usual, I’m mixing domains that just sold with others that closed earlier but just emerged from escrow.
Additive-Manufacturing.de (€3610) – has a landing page already, which claims the buyer has been working in the field of additive manufacturing since 1995. So far, I haven’t pinpointed a company name. Recently, additive manufacturing (which is related to 3D printing) has been touted as the future by the World Economic Forum.
AlexLim.com ($995) – Seattle fashion photographer, Alex Lim, bought and built on his own name.
BeautyJudge.com ($790) – forwards to GlamGeek.co.uk, a website about makeup. Later the buyer may develop it separately.
BeautyWorks.com ($1500) – was purchased by BeautyWorks.co.uk, a supplier of hair care products, hair extensions, hair pieces, and salon tools.
BluesBabeFoundation.org ($750) – has been active in Philadelphia and Camden, NJ, since at least 2013, “showing kids more so they want more”. In addition to Facebook, now they have their own site.
BrandTaxi.com ($750) – Branding agency, Brand-Taxi.com, papered over its hyphen.
Bytex.net ($2500) – Gaming company BytexGames.com notwithstanding, this domain was purchased by the Romanian owner of Bytex.ro. What he intends to do with either remains to be seen.
Confie.com ($6900) – shortens the name of ConfieSeguros.com. They’re not an insurance company but rather an insurance distribution company, which partners with insurers. Because “Confie Seguros” translates as “Trust Insurance”, I expected to find a Spanish-language site. Yet it’s in English; so dropping a word would be an important step to make the name more familiar to English ears.
Davidson.de (€1000) – is neither English nor German. French project management firm, Davidson.fr, annexed Germany. Maybe a German translation will eventually appear at Davidson.de. Then again, maybe German customers are expected to learn French.
DayPoint.com ($3000) – promises to give you “awareness of your time habits [by] providing virtual nudges”. The website isn’t fully fleshed out yet, but I expect a time-management app is on the way.
Dreamer.co ($900) – says you can “donate without payments. Sponsors donate for you, everywhere every month.” Yes, we’ll all hike Kilimanjaro and run marathons while everybody else empties their pockets in solidarity.
EZPR.com ($14,500) – San Francisco media relations firm EZ-PR.com probably didn’t realize when they registered their domain years ago that they were paying $14.5k for the hyphen … as a future removal bill, that is.
Firstrike.com ($4000) – shortens the already elided name of FirstrikeCapital.com. Their website is still under construction.
FortesGroup.com (€1500) – was purchased by FortesLabs.nl, which falls somewhere between an IT company and a college internship program.
Fresnel.com ($3800) – Hazen Paper makes custom holographic packaging. Why they purchased Fresnel.com I’m not altogether sure, but Fresnel lenses are important in optics and (perhaps) in holography as well.
Fructan.com ($2994) – An Italian online marketing firm called Il Camelopardo secured this domain. I’m guessing it’s meant for Fructan.it, which sells a range of sweetener products.
FunRuns.com ($950) – Boosterthon arranges youth fun runs to blend fundraising with health. Not a bad idea. And now they own FunRuns.com. Not a bad idea either.
GeneID.com ($1999) – abbreviates GeneIDLab.com, which (for some unfathomable reason) forwards to admdiag.com. Even there the brand name is “Gene ID”.
GJR.org ($4140) – is GeorgeJuniorRepublic.org, which oversees “residential treatment facilities for at risk youth”. (Much as I usually dislike hyphens in domains, the pedant in me would enjoy a hyphen in the phrase “at-risk youth”.)
GoGift.com ($2000) – Gavekortet.dk, the buyer, is a Danish gift card site.
Grafalon.com ($2300) – was purchased by Neovii Biotech.
Ground.de (€1500) – Strategis.eu, a German real estate company, is the buyer.
HappyPeople.co.uk ($1375) – Premier Employee Solutions Limited is an HR firm whose PESConsulting.co.uk address makes me think of pesky Pez dispenders. This shiny new domain was bought by them … and not by R.E.M.
Heimwerk.de (€1750) – For a company that generates €200,000,000 in sales yearly, the IMS Group got off easy. They make and sell furniture, and this German term might be translated as “home improvement”. The domain leads to IMS.li, which it masks in the address bar.
HSMS.com (€1000) – appears to have been purchased by a French risk management company that already uses HSMS.fr.
Insight.tv ($2758) – Exset.com says it is “adding value to your digital TV service”. Maybe not yours; but they do have offices in the Netherlands, the UK, Estonia, and India.
ISSN.net ($2999) – is the International Society of Sports Nutrition, which already has a site at SportsNutritionSociety.org.
Jako.be (€1000) – Credeco.be is a Belgian printing and embroidery company that says it will be launching “Jako Living Sports” in April. T-shirts, I expect.
Kalane.com ($849) – a partner at Kalane Consulting did his company a favor by securing Kalane.com to replace the awkward Kalane-Consulting.com.
Kasiino.com (€5000) – Estonia’s most popular casino guide, according to itself. The buyer is screened by privacy; so I didn’t verify whether they also own Kasiino.ee, which is a developed site in the ccTLD of Estonia.
Kondom.se (€750) – Anyone who can’t figure this one out without an explanation from me probably shouldn’t reproduce. The major brands missed an opportunity here, as they usually do. Looks like the site is up and ready for action.
Lace.eu (€3750) – adds to the pile of lingerie: Lace.dk, Lace.de, Lace-Lingerie.com, etc.
LeasingMarket.com (€999) – The buyer is Actium Partners, LLC, a “holding compay that makes equity and debt investments … in real estate”.
LifeStyleDaySpa.com ($877) – now belongs to the folks at PremiumLifestyle.at. They seem to be contemplating some sort of rewards club.
LongIslandNewYork.com ($930) – John Colascione, founder of Searchen.com, bought this one.
LottoGroups.com ($2200) – bought by LottoTech.com.
ManagerHaftpflicht.de (€2400) – German insurance company VOV GmbH declares itself to be an expert in management liability, which is precisely what “haftpflicth” means.
MissionAgency.com ($4000) – is now paired with MissionAgency.co.uk. They’re a team that offers seminars in “Whole Brain Thinking™” to corporate leaders presumably operating below 100%.
Musix.com (€7750) – was acquired by a Swiss music store that already uses Musix.ch.
NeoplastGroup.com ($1095) – was bought by a company of the same name in India, a manufacturer of machinery for processing plastics. They’ve been active since 1973, but I didn’t spot their old domain.
Nothing2Hide.com (£2000) – TransferWise.com says, “Banks charge hidden fees when you send money abroad” ; and they claim they’ll save us “up to 90%”. So this domain would be a slogan.
OuvirMusica.com ($10,000) – Studio Sol manages a fleet of Brazilian music sites. This costly acquisition shadows an identically named website built on the ccTLD extension, .COM.BR. Why so expensive? Well, this phrase means “listen to music”.
PerformanceRigs.com ($2369) – Who is “your one source for global, on-demand drilling”? Personally, mine is Nabors. This company makes land and offshore drilling rigs.
Photo-Notes.com (€3510) – A German online marketing company, Zarenga, bought this domain. There is still an older website attached, and its traffic may have motivated the purchase.
PiscinasOnline.com (€1500) – The buyer, Poolaria.com, is a Spanish-language site that sells not only swimming pools but home and garden supplies as well. “Piscinas” is Spanish for swimming pool.
PrimoPrint.com ($3250) + PrimoPrints.com ($1450) – add up to $4.7k for this buyer. Business cards are just part of their product line; so the company must have realized that it has outgrown the name “Primo Cards“.
Respirometers.com ($949) – PreSens.de (Precision Sensing) bought this domain … undoubtedly to go with instruments they manufacture. By the time you write papers entitled, “Respirometry: Correcting for Diffusion and Validating the Use of Plastic Multiwell Plates with Integrated Optodes”, I figure it’s time to own Respirometers.com.
Retain.me ($2500) – Often the web designer is listed as registrant, which makes identifying end users tricky. This one may simply be a startup. The focus is customer retention.
Sanliurfa.org ($900) – The buyer lives in this scenic Turkish city.
Scarpello.com ($2650) – was purchased by Tom Scarpello, president of ScarpelloConsulting.com, a tax accounting firm. Some U.S. readers will recognize the name Dave Ramsey, a radio talk show host who endorses Scarpello.
Skybury.com ($2650) – is an Australian plantation that grows coffee, papaya, and bananas. They already have an attractive website at Skybury.com.au; but if selling outside their domestic market is a goal, then this .COM should help.
SlowGoods.com ($2994) – appears to be the brand name for a new project, but the buyer is anonymous. What we do know is that they’re German and that they “bring products to life”: “Wir machen Produkte erlebbar”.
SlowMedicine.org ($900) – is an upgrade for SlowMedicineDoctor.com.
Sportwetten.biz (€5000) – German for “sports betting”. Developed already.
SteelRopes.com ($2119) – Bekaert is a Belgian-based but global company specializing in steel wire. The most recent headline at their home page reads, “Bekaert successfully completes acquisition of ropes business in Australia”. About time they bought this category-defining domain!
StudyArchitecture.com ($2095) – Finally, ACSA-ARCH.org bought a user-friendly domain name! (They’re the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.)
Thinspire.com ($2125) – Paul Amoruso is the “health and wellness entrepreneur” behind WeightNot.com and also the buyer of this name.
TravelStatistics.com ($1499) – was purchased by Trove.se, which operates websites for Scandinavian destinations such as Copenhagen.com and Stockholm.com.
uKit.com ($3500) – uCoz.com is a free website builder, complete with an attached forum. This might be a rebrand but is more likely a spinoff.
UnitCost.com ($1750) – matters to the insurance adjusters at DocuDamage.com.
UsedCarMarket.co.uk ($960) – was purchased by the CEO of CarDeck.co.uk, which is … (drum roll, please) … a used car market.
Verdwenen.nl (€2000) – RTL runs 4 TV channels in the Netherlands. This word translates as “disappeared” or perhaps “canceled” in the context of TV shows.
ZahnarztMuenchen.com ($950) – belongs to a dental surgeon with multiple indexed websites already – Zahnarzt-Bernhardt.de, for instance.
ZahnarztPreisVergleich.com (€2560) – means “check dental rates” in German. Medikompass.com provides consumers a price comparison tool for medical care.

Nice list and thanks for sharing Joseph 🙂
HSMS went really low considering it was an enduser sale.

Thank you for sharing this list. This is one of the really important info you need, in particular names of companies that already own at least one generic domain and use it, even if that is a simple redirect

HSMS.com for €1000 & Kalane.com for $849 – end users are getting smarter.
