39 recent end user domain name sales at Sedo.
Over the past week, Sedo’s network sold 538 domains totaling $1.2 million. As usual, I’ve done some research and compiled this list of 39 transactions where I’ve detected a specific end user. Some domains actually sold during a prior week but have only just emerged from escrow for inspection. At the moment, several of last week’s larger purchases – including Shein.com ($95k) and HOOQ.com ($50k) – remain indeterminate.
1Bridge.com ($999) – Interoute makes an SaaS video conferencing tool called One Bridge. In my opinion, they ought to rename it using the numeral, since OneBridge.com is already in use.
Augenlidstraffung.net (€3850) – German for “eyelid streamlining”, which is a variety of cosmetic surgery. If this domain is an upgrade for a preexisting domain, I haven’t ascertained what. They’ve put up a developed website, and it appears unrelated to the .com. Meanwhile, the .DE version is for sale.
AviaSim.com ($3000) – French IP law firm Laurent Charras managed this purchase. Even without evidence, it seems reasonable to assume their client must be AviaSim.fr. In case you can’t tell from the name, they conduct flight simulations.
Best-Drive.com ($4000) – Continental AG, a.k.a. Conti, is a German automotive company. They do love their hyphens over there.
BRadical.com ($1000) – It’s developed already with several video promos for video games. BYond that, I don’t know.
BusinessBakery.com ($777) – Clappppp.com – yes, with 5 “P”s – is an Italian-language site for the “incubazione” of startups. Yet its tag line is in English: “The First Business Elevator”. So in some way, this domain must be intended for Clappppp projects.
CarUnity.ru ($8000) – Even though I don’t yet know who the end user is here, some corporation has deputized CSC as the buyer. In fact, CSC spent 4 times as much on this Russian ccTLD as they paid for CarUnity.com, which they also purchased at Sedo 3 weeks ago.
Clavis.eu (€5500) – Up and running as a Dutch financial advisory firm.
ColorSchemes.com ($7500) – Purchased by ColorCombos.com.
DealPlay.com ($2010) – David Sprague, the CEO of marketing firm Real Strategic and founder of “Local Marketing Genius”, was interviewing people about deal sites 2 years ago in podcasts. Buying this domain takes that interest in deal sites a step farther.
FirePro.com ($15000) – used to be found at the .INFO. If these makers of aerosol fire extinguishers didn’t grab the .COM, it might have gone to a trademarked FirePro graphics card.
GENB.com ($5500) – GENB.co bought the letter “M”.
InIQ.com ($2290) – Consistel is “the leading independent provider of distributed antenna system (DAS) in-building wireless network solutions”. The key term being “in-building”.
LiveLox.com ($777) – Once upon a time, a pair of 5-man teams from Swedish IT firm Knowit.se signed the roster of a 10-mile competition as team “Impact” and team “LiveLox”. At first I thought it was a half-marathon. But someone from the LiveLox team bought this domain for use as an Android app – specifically a “positioning service for orienteering events”.
Maxly.com (€2000) – belongs to ConversionVoodoo.com.
MegaTruck.com ($999) – Eceiza Express transports hazardous goods, including radioactive material. It’s a Spanish website, but they have offices in Dublin as well. So obviously their trucks have the run of Europe.
MotorSport.fr (€2000) – ToileF1.com est un “expert français du sport auto”. Racing.
NonStopWellness.com ($1495) – went to NonStopHR.com. Employee health benefits are as much about wellness as about human resources.
Ombuds.net (€1900) – was purchased by American Ombudsman Enterprises, whose primary site is 5/6ths vowel: AOEUSA.com.
PanzerGlass.com (€9000) – was picked up by PanzerGlass.eu for its global audience. Screen protection for mobile phones can be sold everywhere – not just in Europe.
PlasmaChemistry.com ($1500) –Christian Buske, CEO of PlasmaTreat, is the buyer. (Industrial treatments, not candy.) If you’re an avid reader of PlasticsNews.com – and aren’t we all? – then you already know the gentleman.
Prevenout.com ($799) – Athena.es has a service called Prevenout for the “prevencion de riesgos laborales”. Preventing workplace risks.
ProMemoria.it (€1000) – has been acquired by ProMemoria.com, a luxury design firm.
Razer.net ($2813) – RazerZone.com makes gear “for gamers by gamers”. Previously, they bought a matching domain in .ZONE from the registry; and it redirects to their established .COM.
ReemMall.ae (€1500) – was purchased by Shane Eldstrom, VP of the National Real Estate Company (NREC). Their task is to create “the new retail, leisure, dining and entertainment destination in Abu Dhabi”; but it won’t be completed until 2018.
SATTutor.com ($2500) – Just last week, I reported on a similar domain bought by this same individual at Sedo. You’ll have to read that article, I guess.
Skymatics.com ($1000) – This Canadian company already owned the .CA. Interestingly, they perform a variety of aerial inspections with unmanned drones.
Summit.Partners ($1200) – Buttressing the argument that nTLDs act as a tax on many online businesses, SummitPartners.com have paid merely to forward this add-on to the domain they’ve used since 1998 or earlier.
SurveyHero.com ($1150) – Enuvo.ch is a Swiss company that builds and operates web applications, including eSurveyCreator.com. This may be a rebrand or a new product.
Survi.com (€2000) – SurviCam.com provides tools for video surveillance.
Tamoco.com ($1200) – now belongs to Tamo.co. Their website says they “connect physical media to the digital world”. And I figure they must be good at whatever it is they do, since they’ve survived as a company without getting around to explaining what that is.
TexasInvestments.com ($5990) – was acquired by the Chairman (chairwoman, actually) of the Texas Association of Realtors.
UnicaYMujer.com ($8500) – Mexican newspaper ElDebate.com.mx took the occasion of Fashion Week to announce the 2015 release of its new women’s magazine “Única y Mujer”. 8 days after the video of that news was uploaded to Youtube, someone hand-registered UnicaYMujer.com using whois privacy. Now it sold for a 1000-fold profit. I wish I could say that this is the first time a company has announced its new brand to the human race before securing the matching domain. But it isn’t. Truly, the base line for corporate domain acumen is absolute zero. Should we be surprised that El Debate threw away $8.5k? No.
Upcycling.com ($12000) – Coming soon, it says. A site devoted to “upcycling, recycling, or reusing materials”.
UtopiaGroup.co.uk (€1300) – is most likely headed for UK-based UtopiaGroup.com, a distributor of bathroom furniture.
VHT.org ($1280) – is an acronym for ValleyHealthTeam.com
WeGreen.com ($2800) – has nothing to do with environmental friendliness. In the USA, “green cards” grant permanent residence. So the buyer, WeGreened.com, is actually an immigration law firm.
Whitstable.co.uk (£12000) – is already ready for the English seaside town of Whitstable, situated just south of London.
WhyYouWereBorn.com ($1895) – Mastin Kipp has a website called TheDailyLove.com, “a place to love and be loved”. And a book subtitled “Growing into Grace”. And a picture of himself with Oprah Winfrey. Now, whether or not he knows why each of us was born, he certainly owns the domain.
