An Internet of Things podcast, with a domain name bonus.
On Monday I posted a 2014 Year In Review episode of the Domain Name Wire Podcast. I’m sure you’ve already listened to it by now and are clamoring for an extra podcast to listen to over the holiday.
You’re in luck.
This week my wife needed a last minute fill-in on her Internet of Things podcast. I was that fill-in, and we bantered about the many connected gadgets we have in our home.
Why post about this on a domain name blog? Well, toward the end of the podcast she mentioned a company, but it’s one of those companies that got cute with its brand name and domain name (mostly by leaving out vowels). As a result, it’s hard for us to find the company. I get on my soap box about domain names for a minute.
You can listen to the podcast here.

Interesting interview. The problem with the company is: how can you tell the average consumer the name of the product? The name Bttn is noncommunicable and its domain name is bt.tn by using the Tunisia ccTLD. Remember the problem with art.sy when Syria turned off its Internet? (The company later moved to Artsy.net). Anyway, happy new year to you Andrew.
