Listen to Domain Name Wire Podcast #3.
Every week, you read about domain name sales here on Domain Name Wire and on sites like DNJournal. These public sales just scratch the surface of total transactions taking place each week. Most sales, including most sales by domain broker Igloo.com, remain private.
On this week’s podcast, Igloo founder and CEO Tessa Holcomb reveals — for the first time — some of the domain names her company has helped broker. She also provides a breakdown of how many six, seven, and eight figure sales Igloo has handled, as well Igloo’s total 2013 sales volume. She also discusses the company’s acquisition of Aftermarket.com.
Also: a recap of last week’s ICANN meeting in Los Angeles, Donuts sells its one millionth domain name, a cryptocurrency for domain names, and one new top level domain backer takes out an expensive advertisement.

Andrew:
Fantastic and relevant information, far from all the worthless tabloid noise and nauseating ‘New gTLD’ advertising (disguised as pseudo-news) posted lately at certain notorious ‘domain news aggregator’.
Keep them coming.

That was really helpful and informative. Always good to hear more confirmation that there are so many more large domain sales going on than those that are publicly reported. Good job, Andrew and Tessa.
Tessa Holcomb says
Thank you Robert & Jeff – I’m glad you enjoyed it! Never hesitate to contact me directly with any additional questions or feedback.

Very valuable info. Thanks for the interview. I just received a newsletter from Igloo today and it lists Level 1, 19 Auburn Street, Newton, AUK 1023 New Zealand as its address. However, a whois check of igloo.com showed “93 Des Voeux Rd W, Sheung Wan, Newton, Auckland, NZ” as its address. “93 Des Voeux Rd W, Sheung Wan” looks very much like a location in Hong Kong west of Central District and definitely not in Newton, Auckland. So, what is Igloo’s actual address if I may ask?
Tessa Holcomb says
Hi Kassey – I’m glad you found the information valuable. The address on the newsletter is correct. We do have an office in Hong Kong as well that used to be our HQ years ago so it looks like the Whois address may have reverted back partially (perhaps as a result of Moniker’s recent issues?) I will see that it’s fixed immediately – thanks for the heads up!

Good to see you folks are located in the City of Sails!
