How GoDaddy found is puppet master.
GoDaddy’s first half Super Bowl Commercial tonight featured Gwen Dean, who announced in the commercial that she was quitting her job to follow her dreams of running a puppeteer business.
That’s a heck of a way to start a business, especially when 100 million people see your web address, PuppetsByGwen.com.
I’m sure lots of people would appreciate the same exposure. So just how did Gwen end up being the “lucky quitter?”
It all started when the ad agency advertised blind inquires to marketplace websites. It was looking for micro-businesses identified as ‘part-time’ or ‘hobby businesses.’
Last October, over 100 people who were already intending to quit their jobs were identified, but were not told it was for a Super Bowl commercial. A month later, the list was narrowed to 25 people who all signed non-disclosure agreements about the project being a potential Super Bowl Ad.
Then the list was whittled down, and in December Gwen was picked.
GoDaddy helped her register her domain in December. Given Gwen’s new-found notoriety, it was probably smart that her domain uses GoDaddys Domains By Proxy service.
The domain registrar is also holding a contest with five other people who are pitching Danica Patrick at 125 mph on their business idea. One will win 6 months salary so they can start their own business.

Personally, I think that’s a bold yet good move. People will learn about that person’s business and how Go Daddy is making that happen.
No doubt that many people understandably despise Go Daddy, which they know anyway. Still, hard to find fault at someone or some group doing something nice (?) for somebody for a change — despite the commercial benefits, of course.

But would they have done it if there were no commercial benefit ??? !!!

That maybe depends what people expect of Go Daddy. Perhaps to be expected, some people will go “Bullshit, Go Daddy” if the registrar says they did that out of the goodness of their hearts. (cough cough)
Besides, Go Daddy’s deed here benefits them and Gwen Dean. Nothing wrong with that other than not liking the registrar for whatever reason.

Agreed. Of course GoDaddy didn’t do it just out of the goodness of its hearts. It was marketing. I don’t think they would try to claim that. It was just nice that Gwen benefited as well.

You wrote the most important word ever….IF….she had the opportunity and took it, WAY TO GO Gwen!!!

Being successful happens when you have the balls to jump when an opportunity shows itself. Way to go !
