A good month for GoDaddy Auctions including a public six figure sale.
GoDaddy Auctions sold 40,264 domain names last month, up slightly from July’s 39,264 sales. (Numbers aren’t finalized immediately when the month ends, so August’s numbers might increase.)
As always, the most popular word in sold domains was “online”. That was followed closely by “home”. Health, media, blog, design, and free were also popular keywords.
Most sales were through auctions, although nearly as many were sold at “buy now” prices. Only 810 were sold through negotiation.
The top sale of the month was OPS.com for $100,000. It was sold to a Japanese company called Tibanne Co, whose website suggests that the company is still getting off the ground.
Here’s a look at the other top sales for the month:
hjx.com $29,000
kittens.org $27,500
iqualify.com $23,450 – bought by Open Polytechnic in New Zealand
gpen.com $20,000
myreviews.com $18,500
goodmoves.com $16,000 – bought by Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)
goldensea.com $15,777
galvanized.com $13,373
fittek.com $13,000

Do we know on their lists how many were expired auction sales vs public auctions setup by people? Thanks
Andrew Allemann says
@ John – For the auctions I’m not sure. For the fixed price ones would mostly be private sellers.
