A look back at the top five domain name stories in April.
What happens when you get nailed for reverse domain name hijacking but really want the domain? You pay through the nose.
Procter & Gamble’s purchase of Swash.com was one of last month’s top stories on Domain Name Wire.
1. U.S. Department of Commerce not supporting USPS objection to .mail top level domains – the DOC explained that it is not behind the United States Postal Services’ strange objection to the .mail domain.
2. After being found guilty of RDNH, Procter & Gamble pays up for Swash.com – Procter & Gamble was found guilty of reverse domain name hijacking after providing false information in a UDRP for swash.com. Then it paid up to buy the domain from Marchex.
3. Oops…U.S. Government lets Medicaid.com expire, now in private hands – Saving $35 from a domain renewal is not part of the sequester.
4. Here’s the real reason people hate the domain industry – It’s less about domain industry practices and more about the fact that people have to buy domains in the aftermarket.
5. 16 Fortune 100 companies have domains that expire this year – 16 of the largest publicly traded companies have domain names that expire in 2013. Hopefully they won’t let them expire, like Regions Bank did.
