.Co launches membership program

Program gives perks to .co domain registrants.

.co membership program.CO Internet has launched a membership program that offers perks to registrants of .co domain names.

The program reminds me bit of American Express’ programs for small businesses, although many of the offers with .co are geared squarely at startups.

By joining the program at i.go.co, members can score free tickets to startup events, get free co-working space, and free services to promote your web site.

There’s also a referral program that pays you $5 for each friend you get to register a .co domain. The referral works by sending visitors to the i.go.co domain, which in turn will refer them to various domain registrars. As far as I know, this is the first domain registry to offer its own affiliate program.

Signing up for the members program is fairly simple. First, you enter your email address and your existing .co domain name. Then A confirmation is sent to the whois contact on the .co domain to confirm your identity.

The site will also guide you through the domain registration process if you don’t have a .co domain yet.

The membership program is currently in beta and will be fully launched in time for SXSW in Austin this March.

I’m lead of the team responsible for this project. We hope to enable small businesses on .CO to get out of the gate that much quicker and start finding customers. If anyone has any questions we’re all eager to help. :)
