Conference aims to help .city and .country operators hit the ground running.
Two familiar faces in the geodomaining world have teamed up to create a new conference catering to GeoTLD and Geodomain owners.
Patrick Carleton and Josh Metnick just announced the GEO.FUTR conference, which will occur sometime in Fall 2013.
Carleton was previously executive director of Associated Cities, LLC, a trade group representing geo domain owners (i.e. cityname.com). While with Associated Cities he executed a number of geo domain conferences.
Metnick is perhaps best known as the owner of Chicago.com.
The conference will cover both geo top level domains and geo domains in general. But the timing — which is probably a few months before a number of .city domain names hit the web — shows that a strong focus will be on top level domains such as .nyc and .africa.
GEO.FUTR says attendees that will benefit include registries, Geodomain and GeoTLD operators and investors, hotel, travel and tourism entities, municipalities and governments, brands and advertisers with local reach as well as digital professionals and service providers.
More information is at geofutr.com. (Be sure to check out the cool map on their site showing the location of .geo applications.)
