Strange domain registrations related to natural sweetener.
Someone is playing defense with a new sweetener call monatin.
Monatin is a natural sweetener that contains no carbohydrate or sugar.
And some company is getting ahead of the curve on defensive domain registrations related to Monatin. The following domains were registered through brand protection company Mark Monitor this week:
monatincancer.com
monatincausescancer.com
monatinconspiracy.com
monatinsideeffects.com
I’m not 100% sure who registered the domains. But it’s worth pointing out that Cargill has filed a patent application for a sweetener that includes monatin. It is also the registrant of Monatin.com (and .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us).
So does monatin cause cancer?
Every time a new sweetener comes on the market people start questioning if it causes cancer. So this could just be a savvy ahead-of-the-curve move.
domain guy says
this is what howard neu ws talking about previously…registrations as a compatitve/defensive weapon…what this shows is the world has grown up and realizes the value of domains..no reason for domain bloggers to blog about the value of domains.
