I’d buy a lot of domains with my $640 million Mega Millions jackpot

You could buy a lot of great domains with $640 million.

If you see me buying a lot of domains at the next domain conference auction, it’s probably because I won the Mega Millions jackpot.

That’s what I’d do with a good portion of my winnings.

The lottery jackpot is up to $640 million tonight.

Of course I wouldn’t get to take that much home.

The “cash value” pot is $462 million. Then I assume a couple people will win, so let’s say $231 million.

The IRS takes 25% off of that, leaving me with $173.25 million.

That still gives me a bit to play with. I bet I could have bought DVD.com with some of that.

If any domainers when, give me a call. I’ll see you my domain portfolio for about 1% of your winnings.

And if anyone comes out of nowhere to spend a lot at the next live domain auction, I’ll have my suspicions…

I wouldn’t worry about domain names if I won. Won’t be an issue for me though. I have a zero percent chance to win. I didn’t buy a ticket.

You pay taxes on winnings? In the UK a small portion of any bet is tax, so when you win, it’s tax free. Not that I would mind paying tax on $640m!
