Big numbers in latest top level domain release.
I just got an email from ICM Registry about .xxx registration results in the first 24 hours.
55,367 new .xxx domain names were registered. That brings total registrations (including sunrise and landrush) to 159,351 as of noon EST today.
Many of these domains won’t resolve, of course — they were registered by non adult companies wishing to block their brands from becoming porn sites.
High registration prices of around $100 will keep a check on total registration numbers. It should also keep a check on the level of cybersquatting on .xxx.
The numbers mean ICM registry brought in about $3.3 million in revenue in the past 24 hours, with over half a million headed to International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR).

I actually like this extension and the terms of service.
I did not like .co. I did not think there was anything of long term or special value so I did not register one .co domain.
I do like .xxx and have registered just under 20. Most were through snapnames/moniker at $98 each.
I like that there is a real meaning with the .xxx. Visitors know what kind of content they are going to get.
I think people will start typing in domain .xxx to see what is there.
I like how no .xxx will resolve until the owner gets a Membership ID from the registry. This forces all registrants to at least in some small way verify their identity and have at least some commitment to their domains.
I like the $98 price. As Andrew said, this will keep speculation in check.
I like how there is a 60 day hold on all new regs as that too will keep speculation in check.
I look forward to the best parking solution and best development solution for .xxx domains as I think many registrants might be inclined to develop at least some of their .xxx domains.
I like the TV ad campaign for .xxx.
So, good luck to everyone.

@Rob
Thank you for those kind comments and please feel free to contact us about development opportunities.
We will have plenty of traffic and revenue generating announcements in the coming months.

Thanks. Looking forward to the announcements. In the mean time, we will be patient waiting for our Membership ID emails to arrive.
I understand no .xxx website will resolve without a Membership ID and the only way to get one is to have the registry send the registrant an email after registration of a .xxx domain.
Also, I look forward to seeing working whois results but I understand you have a lot to sort out first.
Stuart Lawley says
@rob,
Membership invites going out as we speak and yes your assumption is correct, a valid Membership ID is needed.
Whois is being tidied up today/tomorrow.
from what i understand populating the Whois as part of the initial create takes up more “tokens” from the registrar and therefore slows their queues , so many snagged the names and then backfilled the whois later, if that makes sense.

Congratulations on the most successful domain launch ever!

Not the most successful
Just recently co had 200k registrations on day 1
L. Asher Corson says
200k registrations at 30$ a pop is much less cash than 160k at 100 a pop. .xxx did better than .co.
Right says
Did those 200k registrations bring in the same amount of money?
CamDomains says
@Stuart Lawley,
Would you care to explain why, even after we’ve secured a .xxx domain and received membership into the sponsored community, that you are then confiscating the .xxx domains that we’ve registered?

Whos knows whether or not it will fly as is the same with any new extension. I wanted to get a couple and get some I did. Wanted to make it easy to monetize and think I have accomplished that.
Cant listem here sorry
