Many “sales” of domains people don’t own are by accident.
When domainers let domain names expire or sell them, their first trip usually isn’t to update online sales listings for the domain names.
As a result, most of us have had the experience where we receive an offer on a domain we no longer own or try to buy a domain name through a marketplace only to find that the seller doesn’t own it any more.
Which is why I think this feature from Sedo is smart:
I’m not sure how long this feature has been around; I just noticed it for the first time a month ago but think it has been around longer.
It basically pulls in the whois record so you can verify it when you respond to an offer on one of your domains. It’s pretty easy to see if you don’t own the domain name any more.
Sure, this won’t stop someone with bad intentions from “selling” a domain they don’t own, but it will prevent a lot of accidents.
Sedo has been doing a lot to clean up its marketplace lately, including scanning whois records for deleted domains.

fixed price sales some time can be still messed up. because if we put a domain in fixed price and its sold after we forgot that domain to renew.
