eNom’s famous “backpack girl” is now available as an oil painting.
It’s one of the most popular pictures on the internet, made famous thanks to eNom/Demand Media.
And now she’s available on canvas.
The so-called “backpack” girl was made popular by eNom’s parking templates and is a common joke in the industry. At Demand Media’s party during DOMAINfest they brought in “backpack girls”. When company employees travel to Austin they go to The University of Texas campus to pose at the backpack girl.
Although the backdrop in the picture is clearly The University of Texas campus, the photographer himself says he took the pictures in Kansas City.
The girl in the picture is the photographer’s little sister. And she’s happily married.

Hi Andrew,
With all due respect, I will ask you to do a new write up of EPIK’s epic failure when they got our product sites banned in google.
They offered full money back guarantee ($250/site) or as per the PRESS RELEASE LIKE article that you wrote saying that EPIC will reward the affected customers with full product portals worth over $5k. You basically ran their advertisement supporting Rob/EPIK in the form of a news/article. You may remember that it led to so many comments which even included comments from Rob saying they will offer refunds or full product portals.
Nothing happened and couple of weeks ago I asked them why they have not contacted me so far as my site is still banned in google. They sent emails also saying in January they will fulfill their promise but nothing happened so far.
Now I have been sending them emails and the only response I got so far is we will still honor our promise and then they have STOPPED responding and they are not telling how/what they will do to honor their promise. In fact they have come up with a new money grabbing scheme where we should pay them 1000s more to get the full portal. It is just SICKENING.
I am going to ask you to stand up to this injustice and now do another piece telling the truth about EPIC’s epic failure and scam. It is about time or you will lose your credibility very fast as people will think you are a paid hack, not a genuine blogger who tells the truth.
Nothing against you personally, but you defended them and now we are asking you to make them to honor their promise.
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for unveiling the mystery of the backpack girl, she’s appeared on so many of our sites and we’ve been wondering about the story behind her.
@RKB Seems like you probably meant to send a PM instead?
Andrew Allemann says
Rkb – I’ll contact them to find out what’s going on. I’d prefer that you post a comment like this on a relevant entry or email it to me in the fuure.
And for the record, epik has never paid me a dime ๐

@ Andrew
Your points are well taken. I should have sent you a PM.
Btw, I never said you took money from EPIK, but you did defend them and tried to help them out during the times when everyone was throwing stones at them. I respect your opinions and follow your writings and so I asked you now to look in to it so your readers keep believing in your writings.
Thanks.

Too bad the photographer didn’t ask for royalties ๐ Even if he asked for .10 for every time the photo was used, he would still be a millionare ๐
Sidenote:
RKB- I don’t think you are the only one with an issue with EPIK and their guarantee policy. Still can’t get an honest answer from them either. They keep sidetracking and talking about their new product offering. There’s no way EPIK could repay everyone though. There’s not one product portal that is indexed on the first page, which probably means there’s A LOT of people who haven’t made more than $10.
When looking at the names found in the store.epik.com, it’s still showing christmas domains, which means they haven’t updated their system to accurately reflect their top earning sites. I bet if they did update, we would all see a different picture.

I’m not so sure about that painting…..her eyes look a little freaky-deeky and a bit manly, which of course, she is not. I don’t think it does her justice.
She sure is pretty …and also looks like wife material to me…just so sweet looking. I’m not surprised she is married. Girls like that get grabbed quick.

wow it has a name. That’s when it becomes official. But I try to avoid her and actuay put content up.

Come now Andrew, unspam my comment with a URL to DomainGang ๐ The news is from last November.

@ Acro – what comment?

I just wanted to back up RKB’s comment. I’m in the same boat, and if you decide to investigate further I’m sure you’ll find many others as well. I had two sites delisted, so I’m only out $500. I’m not too bummed about flushing the $500 down the toilet – I knew it would be a risk anyway. I’m more bummed with the empty promises and run around. They have lost all credibility with me. In all I spent $1,000 on product portal sites and definitely won’t be purchasing any more and I will discourage anyone who is thinking about purchasing a site from Epik.
RKB says
I will not rest until the promises are honored or there are actions that we will take to expose the entire thing.
I will for sure ask all the bloggers to expose Rob/EPIK now if the promises are not honored or if we get run around.
Enough of EPIK and its management being saints.
That ship has sailed now.
Any blogger defending EPIK now will just lose more credibility…..it is for sure.
I am looking forward to a real expose ……

Well…..at least Epik bucks never expire. ๐

Just sent you an email regarding EPIK.
