Bed Bugs are In The News. You’d Be Surprised Who Owns BedBugs.com.

Who’s reaping the extra traffic from bed bug mania?
On NPR this afternoon I listened to an interview about the resurgence of bed bugs. Over the past few months you’ve probably seen an increase in media attention to bed bugs thanks to some high profile store infestations in New York City.
I figured some domainer owned BedBugs.com, and had my money on Schilling. So I was surprised when I typed the domain in and was forwarded to…
Hasbro.com?
The domain name was originally registered in 1996. The earliest historical whois record I can find shows that Hasbro owned it since least 2001.
Hasbro has a toddler’s game called Poundin BedBugs, which is probably why it registered the domain. But given that this game is dated and the URL just forwards to Hasbro’s home page, don’t be surprised if someone buys this domain for a more current use.

Ha! That was my first thought.
I’ve approached them a couple of times, as have many others in the past year or so, I was told. They supposedly have no interest in selling, or a least didn’t at the time. Their thinking is that they’ll just just wait it out and bring the product back whenever the current bedbug epidemic (and it is that, I know a few people who’ve had to deal with it, it’s a nightmare!) ends. With that said, maybe for the right price, someone can change thir mind.
do you think they would accept 50p and a free bed bug treatment?
