DOMAINfest gears up for Manhattan.
Are you heading to DOMAINfest in New York City next week? If so, leave a comment on this post to help with networking.
The “Power Networking Day” will take place August 18 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in midtown Manhattan. Admission is still available for $175. I have a feeling this will be one of the larger domain name events of the year.
The agenda has shaped up nicely. For the first time in a long time at a domain event, there are a couple speakers I’m really looking forward to hearing: Naresh Rekhi with comScore will discuss user, keyword and advertising category trends gathered from comScore’s Media Metrix suite, and AOL’s David Mason will discuss the company’s new content platform. The latter is especially interesting in light of Demand Media’s IPO filing.
In the afternoon, I will join David Asplund, Frank Langston, and Steven Kaziyev for a networking session about local search trends.

Meatspace ? That is so last century, so ICANN.
The Million Domain March on .DC is starting, that is where some of the action is.

With domain names such as Cable.com, Quotes.com, XXX.com and DownloadPornos.com who, in the domain space, wouldn’t attend this event even if they didn’t intend on purchasing a domain.
These names are high quality internet real estate. Some people are calling this potentially the best domain conference ever and I feel that this will be seen in the future as the final dip where people had a chance to get some real quality .com domains at a decent price.

“quality .com domains at a decent price”
Realtor mantras…
“Location, location, location…”
“There is a buyer for every house…”
“Sell up and out…”
“Bubble ? what bubble?”
“Cash is King…”
Jim Holleran says
You really don’t learn anything new at these conferences. I been to 10-15 over the years. However, they are great for getting contacts
and DomainFest in LA does have the best parties as well. If I did not have 2 year old twin daughters, I would go.
Ed Muller says
Going to spend the morning at least, possibly all day if other duties do not pull me away.
Craig Rowe says
I’ll be there and am looking forward to it.
